416 visa updates

Receive your guideline for the 416 special program visa! Discuss the current visa eligibility criteria and the application/processing procedures with us.

  • Any paid hospitality applicants must be near completion or have completed their hospitality degree or course and be able to present documents which indicate a close relation between their academic background and their intended internship role/position.
  • Any applicants must usually have completed 12 months minimum of study in their internship field or a very closely related one, unless they can provide compelling evidence to support their need to do an internship with less than 12 months academic experience.
  • In the case of recent High School graduates, they may qualify for a 416 Visa only if they can present evidence of attending previous courses which directly relate to their internship field. i.e. A subject at high school which directly relates to the internship field written in their resume. Also any evidence to show that the applicant is looking to enter into a related degree at university or college (eg an offer of acceptance/copy of an application submitted) will significantly strengthen their application.
  • Successful 416 visa applicants should be granted a visa within 3 weeks prior to departure date written in their 147 form. A four week period may be added to the end of their internship (i.e. visa grant will be for the length of the internship plus a month).
  • A minimum of 28 days is required by DIMIA to process all 416 visa applications.
  • If possible, all 416 Visa applications should include the applicant's transcripts and all other supporting documentation that can link the internship placement to the applicant's background.

We can help you with more information about the 416 visa.
