Airline Australia Qantas: Qantas launched non-stop flight to Beijing
Qantas launched non-stop flight to Beijing By: Oliver Koester January 09, 2006 __________________________________________________________________________ AUSTRALIAN carrier Qantas launched a non-stop service between Sydney and Beijing today.
Qantas will initially operate three flights a week to Beijing in addition to its existing service, four non-stop flights a week to Shanghai using new two-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Furthermore, Qantas will extend its service to daily flights to both Beijing and Shanghai within the next two years, said executive general manager John Borghetti.
Hereby Quantas reacts to a strongly growing travel market between Australia and China, which has grown by 22 per cent in the past year. According to Mr. Borghetti, business and holiday travel was increasing in both directions and the number of Chinese students attending schools and universities in Australia was growing.
"China, one of the fastest growing travel markets in the world, is an increasingly important destination for Qantas," Mr. Borghetti said.
