Australia to chair Climate Talks Australia will lead a fresh round of talks to address climate change and the post-Kyoto scenario. The talks will also look at ways of reducing greenhouse emissions. Federal Environment Minister Ian Campbell described the move as a positive one which seeks to provide a long-term solution rather than a short-term solution as was proposed in the Kyoto plan. "I think the work will now head up under (Prime Minister John) Howard's leadership is probably the most important international work in terms of getting to a comprehensive and international framework", Campbell was quoted as saying. |
