Burnie |
Burnie is Tasmania’s fourth-largest town and is backed by rich farming land. It makes no great first impression because of the town’s heavy industry and cargo shipping port, but it is trying to develop a more appealing coastal atmosphere with a few attractions and good accommodations. You can visit the “Pioneer Village Museum”, the “Burnie Regional Art Gallery”, the “Lactors Cheese Factory”, the “Creative Paper Mill”, a number of gardens, waterfalls and viewpoints. You can find peaceful picnic areas on the riverside of “Fern Glade” and you can visit the “Penguin Observation Centre” at the western end of West Beach. The “Treasure Island Caravan Park” offers a night in a dorm for A$ 14. |
