A lot of French people who come in Australia with a Working Holiday Visa want to discover this country and improve their English. In fact, the Working Holiday Visa allows French people to travel in Australia and to work.
However, 50% of them come to Sydney : they have to find an accommodation and a job too. But, the WHV has known a real success - a lot of young Europeans have taken advantage of this opportunity - and Australia is also affected by the economic crisis.
Consequently, there is more and more travellers for less and less jobs.
Moreover, to be in a big city is not necessary the best way to exchange with Australian people. We have to work hard and we don't have time to meet people and speak with them.
Despite these disadvantages, it's really a good experience which has to be completed by the wwoofing.
The wwoofing (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) is an exchange between an Australian family (usually having an organic farm) and a traveller (woofer) : they exchange an accommodation for 4 or 6 hours of work by day.
This is a brilliant way to live and share a really human experience and to take part in projects development. It also allows to work in activities which we love : for example to take care of animals. There is a lot of different works that means a lot of opportunities to find a work which corresponds to us.
Unfortunately, a lot of people don't know the wwoofing and miss a tremendous experience : we don't want to miss it !!!
Currently, we live in Sydney and share a flat with 3 other persons. We also have a job : Damien works as a kitchen hand for an Italian restaurant and I work for a kebab restaurant : I'm in charge of serving customers.
We have been lucky to find a job fast but after almost 3 months in Sydney, we really want to live an other experience which allows us to learn more about the life in Australia. That's why we want to become woofers ,to live a wonderful experience!
